PhotobucketAs most of you are aware, I currently have one child - Little Bear at age 14 months. She is obviously still in diapers. I always knew that you would go through a ton of diapers. I did not, however, realize the amount of baby wipes we would be using. Needless to say, I ended up with quite the collection of baby wipes containers. At first, I would just toss them into the recycling bin. One day, I had come across Mount Plastic (ie the huge pile/collection of plastic grocery bags from when DH went shopping and refused to use my canvas bags). There had to be a better way to store these. After some research, I came across a Mommy blog who suggested baby wipes containers for storage. Brilliant!!! This one little idea opened up a whole world of uses for these fabulous, sturdy containers. Every since then I have yet to throw another one away. "Honey, don't throw that out. We can use that to store Little Bear's hair clips in." At first, I would receive this "are you kidding me" look but after awhile, he warmed up to the idea and I'd like to say he loves them as much as I do now.

Here are just a few ways that you can recycle and reuse your baby wipes containers......

Storing plastic grocery bags - Keep one in the kitchen or keep one in the car. They keep them neat, tidy and in a convenient location for easy access when needed.

Hair clips/bows holder - Let's face it, if you have a little girl you will accummulate A LOT of hair clips and bows. After all, we need one for every outfit. (hee-hee!) These neat little containers keep them all in one place making them easier to find. Far better than finding one on the floor under the crib and the matching one somewhere downstairs by the dog toys.

First Aid Kit - With hubby's career path, we get a lot of injuries (cuts, scrapes and burns) in our house. We were forever looking for this or that when it came to first aid. We needed a first aid kit and we needed one upstairs, one downstairs and one in the basement. Solution ---- baby wipes containers. They were the perfect size to store everything we needed.

Manicure/Pedicure Station - Little Bear recently found my pretty little blue and white basket that I used to store all of my manicure/pedicure supplies. It was the perfect size to store everything I needed and it was super cute. (Got it on clearance at Target) After she was done with it, let's just say it was no longer cute or useable. LOL!!! Solution --- baby wipes container. Let's see that little girl get access to my supplies now. bwahahahaha!

Mini Toy Box - Great solution for some small toys to keep in the car for traveling amusement. It stays in the car at all times and instead of having the toys thrown all over the back seat when you are done you just put them back in the wipes container, close the lid and walah! Instant Organization. Now that's what i'm talking about.

Missing Socks Storage - You cannot tell me you do not have Sir Lone Sock laying around in your laundry room. Well, I found a solution to the temporary home for Sir Lone Sock - baby wipes container. Looking for the Mr or Mrs in your sock marriage? No problem. Go take a look in the baby wipes container.

As you can see, the uses for this wonderful little container are endless. If you have a few empty baby wipes containers laying around your house do not throw them away. Instead, I welcome you - no, I challenge you - to take a look around your house and see what you could do to recycle/reuse that empty baby wipes container.

PhotobucketLast week on Works for Me Wednesday I featured Edible Playdough. This week, I want to feature Edible Finger Paint. Why? Because it Works for Me (and because it's Frugal of course)

I love Edible Finger Paint. It can keep Little Bear occupied for at least an hour. Not only that but since she's very curious about how everything tastes (she's only 14 months old, ya know) I do not have to worry about her taste testing the product. There is no chemicals to worry about!!

What you will need:
Plain Yogurt (Vanilla Pudding will also work)
Food Coloring (Regular or Gel)

Choose your painting location–preferably in a contained space. We used the high chair. Easy to clean up, and the finger paint can’t run away and paint the wall.

Just mix up some colored yogurt (We used plain, unsweetened, unflavored yogurt, so it’s not so tasty on its own that the kid wants to eat it all and not paint with it) and a small amount of food coloring in the yogurt, give the kid some paper, and let them go! You don’t need that much food coloring because when the yogurt dries, the color is actually darker on the paper than it is when it’s wet. Also, you don’t want the paint to be so dark that it stains the kid and whatever he touches. Basically the same theory applies as it does to the cake decorating food coloring - a little goes a long way.

Clean up is easy. Just use a washcloth/sponge, and soapy water. Depending on how messy the child is, you might be able to wipe them down, or you might prefer to toss them into the bathtub. I don't know about yout but I preferred the bath time after route. Yogurt is a dairy product and already a sour-smelling product as it is - I did not want Little Bear to be walking around with it left on her, if you know what I mean.

Another fun option to this fun and exciting adventure - give them the yogurt and stick them in the bathtub with no water and let them paint away - walls, tub, doesn't matter. When they are done, just give them a bath. I have yet to try this but plan to do so the next time around. Little Bear loves her bath time and I'm sure this will make for an even better experience for her.

You know, it's funny. I was thinking of buying finger paints before I tried this, but I like this more because it’s free (as long as we already have the supplies on hand) and because it’s edible and washable. The paintings look nice when they’re dry, too!

Sorry folks, no pictures for this blog entry. I'll be sure to take pictures of the next Edible Finger Painting Project and post then. ;)

1) Pampers: $1.50 off Coupon - Here is a link for some new $1.50 off coupons for Pampers! Click here.

In addition, don't forget to sign up for their Pampers Rewards program, Gifts to Grow. It is a wonderful program where you can enter the codes from inside your packages of diapers and wipes. On top of that, there are often free points that come out that you can redeem ( even if you don't buy their diapers ).

Once you have accumulated enough points, you can redeem them for free gifts. Yay! And, here is a free code to add GIVE09UNICEFGTG for 3 points

2) Aveeno: $2 off any product - Fill out the form to get this coupon. It can make for a great deal on diaper cream when combined with a sale. (I only use Aveeno or Triple Paste diaper cream on Little Miss's very sensitive skin.)
3) Kashi: $2 off cereal bars - You can get them for free or close to free at Target when you combine this coupon with the $1 store coupon.
4) Betty Crocker: $10 in coupons - If you're new to the Betty Crocker newsletter, you'll receive a booklet with $10 worth of coupons. 5) General Mills: $10 in coupons - If you're new to the Dinner Made Easy or Eat Better America newsletters, you'll receive a booklet with $10 worth of coupons. You should be able to sign up for both and get two booklets.
6) RiteAid: $5 off $20 purchase - I can't seem to find this coupon at Coupons.com myself, so I haven't verified it, but I've seen it mentioned a few times so my guess is that it's regional. It could make for a great deal when combined with rebates and manufacturer coupons.
7) Big Lots: 20% off total purchase on Sunday (Feb. 22) only
8) Free sample of Pantene when you fill out the form

I am happy to announce that we had our First Snow Day in our household two weeks ago. This made the entire family happy. You see, the Little Miss of the house was given three snow suits between her birthday and Christmas on top of a snow sled, snow boots and an array of hats and gloves to chose from. With all this gear, you'd think we'd be ready to tackle on the most fierce blizzards of blizzards. There was just one little problem - we had not received any sort of accummulation to make use of said equipment. Dh and I made a vow that the first chance we get we will call out of work, take a PTO day and spend it with our daughter - for her very first snow day!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

That day came and our house was filled with joy! We took the little one out three times! Each for about an half hour to an hour - until her cheeks were rosey, water was coming from her eyes and her nose and then back into the house we went.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Once inside, the little one was not a happy camper. What to do? Thanks to the wonderful Monica over at The Homespun Heart, I took the outdoor fun inside!!!! She could not have been happier. She had just as much fun inside as she did outside. She spent a good bit of time playing with her snow inside.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

As you can imagine the day was filled with the constant rotation of outdoor snow fun, indoor snow fun and continued for a cycle of four times. After that we were all ready for dinner and snuggle time on the couch. The best snow day of our lives yet. Thank you Mother Nature for allowing us the oppurtunity to have our very First Snow Day with our Darling Daughter. We have memories that will last all of us a lifetime.

PhotobucketLately, it seems that my darling daughter either requires my undivided attention or otherwise is forever getting into things she shouldn't be. When these type of scenarios happen, I turn to homemade play dough because it works for me!

  • By making your own play dough, you can customize the colors to fit the current holiday - or in my daughter's case, she prefers it to always be either red and or blue. Something about these colors just keeps her entertained for HOURS.

  • It’s less expensive than the store bought stuff and we're all about that in this house.

  • The texture is so soft and smooth that I sometimes stop what I am doing to sit and play along.

  • It does not get all crumbly like the store bought stuff

  • My favorite thing about homemade play dough… if my 13 month old decides it looks good enough to eat… I do not have to worry about her eating scary chemicals.

Here are some of the recipes I use...

Play Dough #1
1 c. flour
1/3 c. salt
1 Tbsp. oil
1 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 c. water
food coloring
Mix all together and place over low heat. Stir often until it is the consistency of mashed potatoes. Turn out onto waxed paper and cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Play Dough #2
2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. alum
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. salt
1 Tbsp. oil
food coloring
Heat to boiling the water, salt, oil and food coloring. Stir liquids into dry ingredients. Knead until smooth. Allow to cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Here's the low down....

I'm probably going to be taking advantage of this domain name sale that I spoke about earlier today and I need to come up with a domain name. I'm uncertain if the current title of my blog fits or not.

Momma is thinking she needs to know if her current Blog Name is working or not. Do you think that my title fits the content of this blog? or do you feel another name would better suit it? If so, what would YOU suggest?

Here's where you come in....

I want YOUR suggestions for my blog home. What would YOU chose the title of my blog to be? You can suggest as many as you would like. I'll leave this open until Sunday, February 22, 2009. I'll look them all over and make a decision Monday, February 23, 2009 and annouce either Monday afternoon/evening or Tuesday morning first thing.

Feel free to pass on and share my Giveway with other's as well. The more the merrier.

What will the winner receive?
Photobucket

AVON's NEW Naturals Apple & Honeysuckle Shower Gel, Body Lotion and Body Mist Spray. It's a refreshing scent/retreat and perfect for Spring time. I'm sure you are going to LOVE it. I know I do! This product is not available for another month! You'll be one of the first ones to have it!
Kathie
Lately, i've been thinking about buying my blog name as a domain name. What do you think? Should I go for it? Do you like my current blog name? or perhaps you have a suggestion for another name (Oh! I smell an option for a giveaway here....) given the content of my blog???

I recently read about a very reasonably priced website sale for domain names and it really got me thinking. Now is the perfect time to think about it, do it and take advantage of this special offer.

Photobucket
At Godaddy.com if you enter the code LOVE99 it will discount your domain name to $.99. After tax, you are only paying $1.19. That isn't bad at all. The first step to treating your blog like a business is by having it hosted at it's own .com. So go ahead and purchase it before the price is raised back to $9.99.

I have been so uber busy with everything lately that I forgot to share one important piece of information about a month ago or a little later. Shame on me.

As most of you know, I recently celebrated the first birthday of my darling daughter back in December. During that time, I was able to have a chance to “taste” stay-at-home Mom life for three wonderful weeks. As you can imagine, I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that I was determined now, more than ever, to do whatever I can to achieve that goal – to be able to stay at home with her.

It was during my time with her that I decided to do some digging around. I finally decided on something I could work on with the potential to be able to obtain my goal! I can recall when I was five or six sitting at the kitchen table with my Mom helping her sort out her delivery/order bags. At that time, she was selling AVON to enable her to be able to stay at home with us during the day while my Father was at work providing for his family. My goal is to be as successful as she was – for me and for my family!

As of January 8, 2009, I have officially became Your Avon Lady. :-D I am also two campaigns ahead of most representatives as I am in the Trendsetter district. Currently, I am now offering Campaign 8.

You can order directly from my webstore (with FREE shipping on any order!) at http://www.youravon.com/krementer Please use the free shipping code available on my site when checking out and submitting your order.

Easter is fast approaching and AVON has a lot of good stuff to offer and a ton of sales. Please do me a favor and place an order from me if you love AVON or would like to support me in my quest to becoming a WORK FROM HOME Momma to my darling 13 month old little girl. :)

What? Did my ears hear right this morning? Did I just hear that Denny's is giving away a Free Grand Slam breakfast for today only?! Pinch me. This can't be real! Then again, it probably is. I'm, I think, five weeks out with the Tight Curves Transformation Challenge and we all know I can't even think about eating this right now. *sigh* Ah well, someone can have mine......

Only some Denny's are offering this free grand slam breakfast. The information on their site says: Dine-in only. Offer limited to Tuesday, 2/3/09, 6 am to 2 pm in all Denny's restaurants in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico while supplies last.

I do not know about you but if I were to take advantage of this awesome offer that I would call ahead and make sure my local Denny's is participating. I'd hate to show up only to have broken dreams (LOL!) and time wasted - wouldn't you?

Good luck and Eat up!

I thought this was Uber Nice of her to offer this. Head right over to her blog by clicking here and obtain your free copy today!

Thanks Suzanne! Sure do appreciate this! I'll be sitting down with my tea after the little angel goes to bed and see what I can do to make earnning on Ebay a success for me and my family.
Kathie
A little late since her birthday was in December but hey, better late then never.

Here's a slideshow of the birthday celebration. (You'll notice a ton of pictures of her and her Pop-Pop, my father in law. They are best buds and she finds him to be the best person on the face of this earth - aside from her Mommy and Daddy that is. ;) )

And yes, that is my very first attempt at cake decorating. Not too bad if I do say so myself for a first timer, eh? I plan to practice and/or take a course (time permitting) and make a significant improvement come time for her 2nd Birthday Cake.

Here's to another year of laughter and fun!
